    Default Hire Cart......

Since that van drove into the back of the VXRD, I still havent even got the sign off yet for the accident repair... nearly 1.5 weeks on.. !!

The garage has put the estimate in at £3,800 .... so the insurance company is querying it now and wants an inspector to go in. Which will delay things further !!

I've told them all about the Irmscher Germany Trip, and it might not be dont in time... so the VXRD could be out of the running.... dont know for sure..

Anyway... they've given me this thing.... whilst mine is in the bodyshop sitting there doing nothing !!

As you can tell with the above, I'm not a happy bunny..... I want my car back !!

I hope it's better built than the Passat I owned a few years back (2001 1.8T SE)

Dash lights never worked, more creaks, groans and rattles than you could shake a stick at. Arrogant, snotty nosed dealer.

Good luck with the repair mate.

WHAT?!?!? The VXRD might not be ready in time for Germany?!?!? I'd be repeatedly wedging my right boot firmly between their a$$ cheeks!!

Maybe you can bring the Passat and make up a VXRD car cover like the Hyundai advert.

    Steve, that's poor.

Hope they pull their fingers out soon.

If it comes to it, the earlier offer still stands, there are two empty seats in ours.

Blimey, must have been a fair bit of damage then - I'm assuming a good bit of it hidden? When the Merc hit my rear-end last year (and you saw the damage that caused) my estimate was just under £3600 - so yours must have more, or more expensive, damage.

Yep, on an estimate of that size an assessor will definitely be sent out.

I really hope it's done it time for the Germany trip, but do be prepared for it being a possibility that it may not. The Merc incident, and the Porsche one later in the year, both took six weeks from date of accident to having the car back - which included an assessor visiting for both of them due to the cost of the repairs.

That was with the claims going very smoothly from start to finish, no quibbling from Direct Line with anything, third party quickly admitting liability on the Merc incident, assessor coming out reasonably quickly and the bodyshop/dealers doing the repairs as soon as they were authorised.

I think it must have been 2-3 weeks (from date of accident) for the repairs to be authorised each time, given the time needed for the garage to do the estimate, the assessor to come out and report back and the insurers to authorise it. So your time-frame so far is certainly not out of the ordinary.

If it's any help - my front-end Porsche incident would have been finished a week earlier than the six weeks it took as the Irmscher suspension parts had to come from Germany (which held things up). The rear-end one from the Merc wasn't held up by anything, it just took that time as the repairs involved some internal panelling work and welding - all time consuming. You probably are having similar(ish) stuff done so that may mean the repairs taking a similar amount of time.

Hope you do get it back in time, but just wanted to give you an insight of the timings I experienced from my two incidents last year.
