Hi folks, it's a little difficult to get excited about this now seeing as my little kitten is poorly but i thought i would post up what i have been trying to arrange for a few of SE region members over the past few days.
At a recent meet a few members suggested that they wanted to get their windows tinted. this has been on my list of things to do so said i was also interested. A few other members have also suggested it in the SE region so i went on the hunt to find a reputable fitter.
The company that i went and saw today prior to taking my kitten to the vet is called Tint Design - www.tintdesign.co.uk
They are on the Uxbridge Road very close to Hayes.
The guy i spoke to today quoted me £200 for all windows (driver and front passenger windows included). I said that if we got 4 or 5 people to book then what could he do it for. He said that he would do it for trade price of £170 all round and £140 if you just wanted the tint from the B-pillar back.
I'd spoken to a company previously and had thought i was going to go with them, but what impressed me was the amount of time the guy at Tint Design was willing to spend with me, explaining that it's not only the percentage of tint that will determine how dark the windows look, the light within the car plays a big part aswell as external light obviously.
He even gave me a few samples of what tint he can offer, and these are (darkest to lightest) - 5%, 14%, 24%, 40% and 50%.
Up to 3 cars can be done in one day, and from speaking to a few members via PM it seems that we'll have to try and book a weekday and one saturday as a) he wouldn't be able to do all the cars in one day and b) not everyone can meet on the same day.
We had a look at my car and he said that 40% all round would look very good, you would still be able to see through it, but overall it would be a very nice effect.
If you look at the car from the side you'll see that the windscreen ends around the half way mark of the front windows, so a lot of light comes through the front, and with a 40% tint all round you'd get a gradual tint look even though it's the same tint all round.
If you're interested in getting your windows tinted and are happy with the information provided then put your name on the list - any questions then just ask on here or drop me a PM. Can you also indicate whether you prefer a weekday or weekend.
thanks
