Id Hang on to it - technically New cars should have them still fitted - unless the exhaust has a sports cat fitted to it??

I'd say it might be worth a few bob, and definitely worth hanging onto.

Cheeky Garages - Spend all that money on an exhaust and they want to keep the bits that they can probably sell on to someone else - should have told them they could have it if they knock £50 off the new exhaust

yea diesels dont have to have them fitted as far as i am aware because mot over here only measures the smoke particles from exhaust as with a petrol the machine breaks down into readings nearly every fume coming from a petrol cars exhaust, as for smoke test at mot, easy cure! turn tuning box right down!!!

Yeah, my Astra passed the MOT last month while the cat was in a plastic bag 35 miles away.

A new one is about £200 I think. But, I was warned that cats on diesels are a strange beast, and tend to only work on the engine they're designed for, something to do with flow rates etc.

Could be BS, but that's what Dee @ Dee's Exhausts said, and the rest of his advice was spot on as regards the Powerflow he fitted.

Yeah, my cat is totally different to that one, more square than flat. The cat on mine was part of the downpipe, so hacking it off like that was the only way to do it I guess.
