    Default Sat Nav Retro??

    Hi all,

Does anyone know if you can retro fit the Vauxhall navigation unit (with colour screen)?

I am hoping it will just be a straight swap plug and play for the screen, like the majority of things on the veccy, obviously it will have to have all the other ancillaries fitted, but i assume they would come with the system.

    Has anyone any ideas?

There was a system on ebay a few months ago.... it was pretty much the entire centre of the dash (including the vents) and looked like it was a single unit.

If you figure it out I wanna know how much etc... A How 2 on the forum would be very popular I think.

What would be ideal is somebody on here that maybe has an idea of what the job entails or even if it can be done at all??

get a tomtom go!...that'll do nicely!....i remember reading about someone who did do a retro fit of the full sat nav system, think it was a ncd2013 model, it involved taking out the whole dash, changing all of the wiring and it cost about 1500 quid to do on top of what they had paid for the unit in the first place......for that sort of dosh, you could prob change cars for one which already had it in!, or pull out the exising unit and fit a single din headunit with nav like the sony or blaupunkt units. Macro have the blaupunkt ones in stock for under 400 quid, its the sort which just gives directional arrows rather than full maps 9 similar to the ncdc2013 with mono display.

    sommat like this:-

I'd second exactly what brucey said. Why spend a huge amount to retro-fit the original system when you could get numerous stand alone Sat Nav systems (TomTom Go for example) that are far, far better then the Vx one and which can be moved between cars.

Yeah I agree with you on the price and hassle issue, but I wanted a system that didn't look like an add on and ruin the interior look of my motor, and the colour screen looks fantastic in the veccy

To be brutally honest, compared to whats out there in the market place at the moment, the vx nav unit is pretty pants, although the mp3 playing side of it is what I was after, the nav was a plus, however I still use my tomtom!
