If you have a 1.9 150 IMO I think that will be a backward step. 2.2 Direct is not as fast and less economical. 1.9 is easily tunable.
But if you must have a petrol then its a nice unit, quite torquey....

I used to have one on a 54plate- started off with only 500 miles and got rid with 16k on the clock. They're quite economical but I just felt that when you went above 4000 revs it wasn't really sucking as much petrol as it could-hence the economy- so was a bit lack lustre! It still plodded on beautifully but I just missed that little bit extra! Got a 3.2 now to make up for it but the 2.2 used to cost me £25 a week to get to work the 3.2 now £35. Depends what you want but I never had any problems.

Would say the 1.9 is a better car?

Unless you turbo charge or supercharge the 2.2

I'm not sure. I've only ever driven a 1.7dti Combo van so I could say.

I was looking for a diesel initially, but as I only do about 10-12000 miles pa, I couldnt jusify the extra cash for the diesel, plus I wanted a facelift at the time.

The 2 exhausts also swayed it for me, they look great both smoking away when its cold
