Noise-wise, I heard Jonnye's 3.0 CDTI a couple of months back, and it sounded just like a BMW 530d on tickover - very smooth indeed.
The 1.9 CDTI is very well sound insulated, so when you're sitting behind the wheel, you don't get "The Almera Syndrome" at all.
Cheers. Going to pop down my local dealer this weekend to see what they have and get a test drive if possible.
Just a few more questions which pop to mind:
I see some people having various problems with turbos, egr, dual mass flywheel etc etc.. are these widespread like they are on the Renault dCi engines or fairly low key occurances? I don't want to end up with a lemon
if it's a 3ltr, then i'd say that they're fairily bombproof, with only one report of flywheel trouble on here..
the 1.9 seems a bit more fragile ( thats without all our deisels trauma), and there are more reports of folk with trouble..even thou more folk on here have 1.9's..
neither of them are as fragile as the DCi renaults...two of which i have to fix this weekend..they are more reliable than them, yes..
I love my to bits
Thanks
I'm thinking I should test both a 1.9 150 and the 3.0
Anyone clued up on trade in values / private sale values?
My Nissan Almera 2.2 dCi (136) SXE 2003 has done 30k miles, FSH etc
Yes, but this is when you push the whole way to full operation
I've even done a road test with the Service Manager, went round a roundabout three times just to demonstrate the problem!
He agreed there was a fault, but they will look at this on the first service
Here is what happens :
You approach the roundabout, in a straight line, and press the right indicator, flash, flash, flash, flash, flash
You then turn the steering wheel to the left as you enter the roundabout, no problem still flashing
You then restraighten the steering wheel as you make the turn INTO the roundabout and the indicators cancel
As a result you then need to fumble with the indicator to keep it ON, AND turn the steering wheel, wholly dangerous!
You can haggle HARD on the 3.0 V6 CDTI
Company car drivers don't want them due to the tax implications
I was comparing an almost identical 1.9 CDTI, both had the same window price and I got £600 off the 1.9 and a whopping £1900 off the 3.0
For a 3.0 with less than 10K miles you will be searching very hard, and might have to wait a LONG time
I waited three months and two appeared, one in blue and one in green
I wouldn't pay more than £10K, and knock £1K off for every 2500 miles over that
You should be able to get £5500 for your Almera (assuming 5 door)
Thanks
I have had a look on Vauxhall's used car area and the prices seem more than 10k for the 3.0 so there must be a lot of room for haggling as you suggest :-)
How much would you say one with approx 25-30k miles would be worth?
Yep mine is a 5 door Almera.. £5500 is a bit low, I was hoping more for £6000 but I guess that would only be achievable if I sell privately.
Mystical you can't be too far away from me.
I've recently had my 3.0 remapped by a company in Cambridge - if you want i can take you for a spin in it, i'm sure it will clear any doubts!
EDIT:And get your name down on this list showing us whereabouts you are for future meets
