    Default Tailgate Boot Stud Adjustment

On an 02 Vectra-C, how do you adjust the two boot studs on the tailgate?

They seem to have a thread on them, but when turned, the studs don't seem to screw up or down. There's what looks like a large black hexagonal nut at the base of the thread. Does this need to be moved in some way to release the studs?

Hold the nut and turn the stud. The nut has to always be up against the tailgate panel. They don't actually adjust that much TBH. Mine (Signum) hardly move.

I've sussed this one out now!

By gently popping out the entire stud unit from the tailgate, it became obvious that there isn't a screw thread on the stud shaft at all! It's actually a series of raised rings around the shaft and inside the unit are two plastic blocks which, when locked in place, grips the edge of the shaft like a pair of pliers.

The hexagonal nut needs turning one-sixth of a rotation to unlock it. When removed, the two gripper blocks can be removed and the stud repositioned. The blocks are then replaced and just need to be turned enough so that they begin to grip against the shaft and the moulded plastic holder. Everything is placed back in its case and the act of locking the hex nut back into position pushed the gripper blocks into place.

As you're talking about leaking, I assume that you're referring to the two hydraulic supports at the top of the tailgate as opposed to the two rubber studs at the bottom that I'm talking about!
