Read elsewhere that box can be modded. Is there an "how to"? does anyone know how it's done?

Did mine yesterday on the V6 CDTI, very easy indeed, just open the air box, remove the air filter then u will see the piece to be removed, simply unclip at the open end and gently silde the other end upwards and thats it really.

    Thanks.

Does the ECU stay on the filter lid or is it removed. What's the best procedure?

You will need to remove the ecu from the lid, no need to disconnect from the loom though

What does this mod do and what is the part to be removed?

Not sure if your facelift model is the same, bud?

Mod apparently utilises more of the filter element. The pipe was only put in place so vehicle would pass noise restrictions.

i cleaned out my K&N filter over the weekend and it was still very noticeable that one side of the panel is getting used MUCH more than the other, and that's with the tube at the bottom removed.
