    Default Police Bike

I had to visit a customer in London yesterday, and I came out of City Thameslink station to find that the road outside was shut, due to a "suspect package".
I was amused to see that a couple of cycle cops, with their mountain bikes, had blocked the road.
What amused me was the fact that their bikes actually had blue and red flashing lights on the backs, which set me to wondering they have a siren, too!

The meant I had to take a long detour on foot to get to where I was going, but I found I had to walk down a road called "Little Britain", which made it worth it. i tried to do some of the characters, but it's not easy, carrying a laptop bag and an A to Z!

Well I've triggered a speed camera on my road racer!

It was when I lived in London and there is a nice long stretch of road (30 limit) on the one way bit that goes past Holloway Prison. It has a slight downhill incline on it. There are some traffic lights mid-way and I thought they were about to change, so I got out of the saddle and started to hoon it. I passed a speed camera (not a red light camera) further down and saw it flash as I went past it!!

When I slowed down I looked at the max speed on my cycle computer, I had hit 37mph!

Funnily enough, I didn't get a NIP in the post! I would have loved to have seen the operator's face when they were going through that roll of film!!

We know have these "bike cops" in Leeds - they are hilarious.

Near where we live there are a load of alleyways and grassy areas where the kids congregate - unfortunately, as is normally the case, some of the young uns have given the rest a bad reputation.

The police answer - cops on mountain bikes - it is so funny to watch these idiots try to "get down with the kids" - no one has any respect for them at all because they're only Community Support Occifers.

About the funniest thing I've seen one do is chase a kid who was on a moped - he had the blue and red flashing lights on - he hadn't got a prayer - all he could do was shout after him "Police -Stop!!!!"

The bikes are not there to chase people down matey. They're for a more rapid response than on foot and they're also used as a protection barrier for the officer. I think they're a damned good idea if you ask me. There's people who will laugh at Police Officers no matter what they're in or on, but they forget that one day they might need these people.
