Few pictures of the purchase as it comes. Has some minor damage here and there but overall seems ok.
So I have a list of tasks and problems already!
- Oil/Filter Change
- Diesel Filter Change
- Air Filter Change/Airbox Clean
- Pollen Filter Change
- Glowplugs if required
- Poor MPG issues to investigate (Hindsight Thermostat and Fuel tank leak)
- Track Rod, Track rod ends and retracking to do
- Driver side spring (maybe as its almost 1CM lower in arch).
- Carb Clean EGR, Boost Valve and Throttlebody and some related pipes
- Another oil change every 1-2K until block appears cleaner
- Magnetic Sump Plug
- Wheel balance

Other bits;
- Damaged driverside door seal
- Really noisey door pin
- Driver side door rust- Fit my HU
- Upgrade Audio
- Repair damaged Wind Mirror
- Repair scatches to paint work
- Repair some scuffs to the door handles
- Parcel Shelf rattle
- Replacement engine cover or repair mine, the screw holes are pushed through and the thing rattles to hell cutting into pipes and making noise.
- 3 small dings to have repaired
- Alloy wheel refurbishment maybe in black (Stock SRi one's)
- Jet Wash, Clay, Polish and Wax - eventually.
- Restore or replace scratched headlight plastics

First thing that blue my mind before I knew what CANBUS was, and that the Vectra manages to use a single coil bulb like a double;
Cleaning contacts on bulb worked, but I was convinced I was missing two brake lights for a while not realising that they were not cancelling each other out but that 2 of 4 sidelights are ALSO 2/4 brake lights.




It works, lots of pictures not that exciting will be the theme of this project, sorry - Maybe later when the basics are covered.

Air filter looked shot, only seems to use half of the filter also;


Now replaced with a BOSCH filter and hoovered out the airbox;
Tried to stop the parcel shelf rattle so replaced this;

Bought this to check for any codes and to check temperate of coolant as it seems my engine temp guage doesnt work;

Filled tank up full for first time and then this started happening;




Also this week the car hit a pheasent when we had fog, it suddently decided to jump in front of my car off the side of the road at 60MPH.
So glad the ****** was dying if not dead;



Still getting no temperature reading (in hindsight but at time of photo had no idea)

This was one of the most annoying weeks of this car and I had it around 2 at this time.

Really dirty Oil;


Rear Driver side wheel started grinding, turns out my brake is always on;
Offside - Full pad

Driver side - No pad - Cause of noise;


First tank repair went in, caliper also replaced under warranty as I had just bought the car. Garage refused to accept thermostat at fault as it appeared to open and close.

Brake lines recently got repaired but appeared to leak, got this taken back and fixed with caliper.
Bought incorrect grill as didnt even know SRi one's were different;



Now got correct SRi grill, normal grill up for sale if anyone wants it because its sat on my dining table going to waste;

tank repair failed;
Not as bad but still doing this;


Lost overnight from brimming tank, stopped after 2.5L lost and a 55 mile drive, then when lower I stuck it back in;
Replaced stock worn wipers to BOSCH flats

Corsa Facia, doesnt fit and falls off - Need to get correct Vectra one.

Garage doing the warranty work for my car still saying Thermostat is not at fault; Paid another to fit it who spent all day having a nightmare for £70 labour.

Appears working - I seem to be getting 85 Degrees on the move, this normal or meant to be 90degs?

As of yesterday and day before this was undertaken I am hoping to improve the MPG of 38 to be closer to ther 48/51MPG mark as computer states. As leak is also fixed it seems.
