Choosing a new Boiler

And I don't mean a woman OK!

We need to replace our boiler. She Likes Combi boilers. I hate them. Never enjoyed a hot shower or bath with one and don't rate them in the slightest.

We have 2.5 kids, and the dishwasher and washing machine seams to be permenantly on. Our water presure/flow at the stopcock is pretty good but through the house and out to the garden house is poor. (we had it checked today).

I once saw a boiler in a new build that was a large round tank. It contains water that is always kept hot. Cold water enters and leaves via a heat exchanger to give mains pressure hot water and the radiators are fed from this tank too. No-one seams to know what it was or how good they are. Any ideas?

Apart froma Combi, What other boilers are out there and anyone got experiences or recomendations?

obviously you could keep the traditional boiler,tanks and cylinder system and just change the boiler for a condensing system boiler or if you had the room you could fit a boilermate, which is a high powered combi but has stored hot water aswell, but these are probably bigger than most peoples airing cupboards, i'll dig some pics out later. or maybe a high output combi, along the lines of a ideal isar 35He or something of similar size, most combi's will do the heating in an average house, the higher the number on the boiler, the better the hot water output and flow rate

Whatever you fit Brocks call the "Magic Boiler" first.......the Magic Boiler is a Government scheme whereby you get your boiler for less than cost price and the supplier (PTS) apply to the scheme to be reimburst.........the list price on our boiler, we had to replace it just before Xmas, is £1893 we got it for £740 including vat

your best going for the combi boiler,we had a worcester 24cdi combi fitted
3 yrs ago and have had no prbs with it at all,wotever you decide i can get
you 1 from plumb center at a gud price as i use to work there years ago and
the manager is a gud friend of mine,see i have ppl in the right trade,i`m
handy of all trades

Just my opinion but I don't rate the Vaillant brand.

We had 2 different ones at work & they've both been a pain, & the output doesn't seem brilliant either.

We had a Potterton before & it was awesome, & it lasted about 12yrs (not bad for an office).

I've had a Baxi at home for 10yrs & it's very good but you have to be spot on with the inhibitor & descaler otherwise it gets noisy.

Also I had a few electrical niggles with it a couple of years ago, which were cured by having 2 new boards fitted, & this year the expansion tank failed which was also replaced (both under extended warranty).

Boiler has now been condemmed courtesy of a pidgeon in the chimney..I have to get a new one ASAP!

Got a Baxi 105E at home and a Baxi 105HE at work, both gas combis. Both give a steady hot water feed, I've stood for over 30 minutes in the shower at home (boiler is set to the correct temp for showering).

The one at home is about 2 years old, the one in work is the condensing high efficiency version of the same boiler. Highly recommended.

Get a real boiler.......a Baxi 133HE Plus.........Max output is 45Kw.........yeah man
