Possible air con problem

Does any one know at what outside temperature air con should start working ?

Don’t think my mine is working. Today had an outside temp of 17 Degrees so I tried the air con and the light came on but the air didn’t feel cold and also didn’t notice any extra load on the engine.
Looked in the Handbook to see what the minimum outside temp air con will operate at, but the book just says “At low outside temperatures the cooling unit switches off “

had mine running this morning at an outside temp of 8 degrees.. so i wonder if yours is short of gas..that'd make it cut out on the low pressure switch....

i think it temps out nearer freezing point..

get them to do a vac check and a nitrogen fill 1st... they should anyway.. to see if it's got any leaks..before they fill it with refridgerant..

Thanks for the tips. I'll make sure whoever does the job understands that I want the system checked before its re-gased. if Andrews estimate of £50 is about right then I think it will be well worth the money to stay cool.

The Nitrogen will remove any moisture from the system too that could freeze in operatio and block valves etc. I thought it stopped at about 4 degrees?

it is down that end of the scale yes...at this time of night i can't remember it for the life of me..

I think mines gone again, not happy, cos it looks like the supplying dealer told my Vx dealer just to gas it up again rather than pay for something that's probably not under warrenty, unless it was discharged to replace the heat exchanger and they forgot to recharge it.
