Sounds like it may be one of the switches under the brake or clutch pedal. Need to get your head right in there and take a look.

Also, have you had a look at any of the fuses?

Or the stalk switch itself, or some thing more expensive, like the ECU or something else.

If the switches checkout OK, then prob a trip to either VX or A.N Other would be helpful.

I had the same issue. Very common fault. In most cases this is clutch pedal spring got loose or broken.

The dealer can fix it. The spring costs is less then ten pounds plus labour (so be prepare to pay around hundred pounds ).

hi, checked the clutch whilst out in it today and thats the problem, have to lift it before it engages. Can this be a diy fix or has it got to goto a garage(resent paying there over the price labour costs)

    cheers for all who replied

Don't understand about having to lift it, lift what?

The switch itself is easy to change, or is it the position? or the position of the pedal? A bit more detail may get good answers.

he's getting at the fact that the pedal return spring won't lift it high enough to engage with the CC clutch switch..it normally leaves it hanging about 4mm short of the switches plunger.. so not closing it and leaving CC unable to engage..

the easy test to see if it is the clutch switch is to just lift the pedal with your foot while driving and see if CC will engage..

Changing the switch or the pedal spring just means removing all the trim around the column and pedal box for access.. a bit involved, but not difficult..
