Locking wheel nuts

Managed to smash my locking wheel nut key at the weekend and typicaly can not find the pin no. to order a new one anywhere, however laid around my tool box is one of these,

purchased years ago and never used yet, i believe it is 17mm / 24mm, does anyone know if this will do the vectra? and would i be right in saying the practice would be to use a air impact wrench in reverse to wind it on?

havent a clue what that will do, but would you believe it, i broke my locking wheel nut key yesterday too, only wanted to remove the wheels to give them a good clean, got round to doing 2 then the key broke. Thankfully i still have the pin so ordered a new key, at the cost of £23.49!

a lot of reverse gear on the impact gun, and a lot of push to make sure it bites onto the nut... I have 'SNAP-ON' rippers and they are more designed for manual use rather than airguns..

Be aware thou that you may well have to drill off the outer sliding collar to give it something solid to bite into..the collar is hard, but a sharp 3mm bit and a punch will normally see if off..

Just had a go at this, my socket wouldnt touch the nuts, doesnt seem big enough wouldnt even get a start. Spoke to my local Snap on guy though he seemed a bit unsure about what i wanted, would you know the size of the ripper or even a part number?

My young lad did this I ended up using a chisel.....it got there in the end with no damage done

if you drill the collar off ( the ONLY way to get them off), then you can use the identical one to mine...3/4 - 19mm part no. TTWY241A

has removed a fair few nuts now for folk..

...

or you could pop to your dealer who have a master set that they can either remove you old nut or give you the pin code ........just a idea mate ...

it is indeed benny, but when i tried i with our local major dealership they wouldn't give me the time of day...let alone the use of their set of keys..they wanted to charge me to have them removed and for the supply of a new set..

hence i resorted to the 'rippers'..

the ****ers .....we always try and help and remove the kit its a sale for parts of a new key set .........and i dont think we charge to remove the old keys ..only if they are broken or damaged ........
