Smile 2.2 direct sri c/w bike rack and mtb

Fairly standard, only light bulbs and door pins changed, and a towbar added. Brilliant car!

Co-incidently, we were also out with our MTBs this weekend.

The VXR tailgate spoiler that comes with the XP pack caused some interesting positioning issues with the bike rack.

The straps were high enough to be clear of the rear wiper. However, I avoiding using it, just in case!

Yours does not look too bad Matt but i get sooooooo angry with people that have bike racks strapped to the rear of their cars. Most don't realise that people following have no idea which way the car is about to turn as we can't see the rear lights I see no end of them every day and 99% do not put a trailer board on as is required by law if the rear lights and number plate are obstructed!

Looks good Matt. Your rack holds the bikes lower than most I have seen. When I had an Astra the bikes were held so high it was like dragging a brick wall everywhere.

I opted for the towbar mounted rack this time. It keeps the bikes out of the airstream so mpg isn't really affected and I can still open the boot.

I have the Vauxhall roof bars and roof mounted bike racks, so easy to use.

I'll get some pics up of mine when I next use it.

You attached the straps to the bottom of the bumper - pretty dangerous; they must be attached to the bottom of the boot!
and if done so, you could open the boot with the rack still on it

The bottom straps are secured to metal bits under the back of the car. They just squeeze the rear bumper a bit.
