Default Spanner symbol: Car didnt start: Now its fine?

I'm off work today, so thought I would have a nice dozy morning in bed.

Missus got up for work at her usual time and went out to leave for the office.

She came back in to wake me up from my slumber moaning that the car would not start and that there was a "spanner" symbol appearing on the dash.

So I got up, pulled some clothes on and went out. Unlocked the car, got in it and turned the key.

Started first time, no spanner symbol appeared.

Whats that all about then?. Should I be concerned?. Any need to take it to the stealers or not?.

I have a CRD2 fitted, its been on for just over a month with no problems.

Missus said the car drove as normal all the way to work and it seems fine now?.

The car knew who was sitting in it, and went into self preservation mode.

Now then mate, same happened to me 6 weeks ago an hour from home in a shop car park!
So took it to the stealers, had codes read and a full health check and nothing was found

She has run fine ever since,an interesting one this,as i havn't heard any one else have this problem since i posted my findings a while back.

I'm sure someone somewhere in the depths of Vauxhall might be able to explain it. For now it can only be explained by the fact, that if you chuck computers into cars and make them complicated enough somets bound to go wrong.

I'd rather think of it as a PC freeze,a reboot and it's fine. By the way they checked the key recognition as well and that was fine too.

    Most odd.

Even something as stupid as a mobile phone signal can cause this to happen, I think you got it in one Sparkey.

    BSOD without the blue screen.

Cheers guys, that kinda puts my mind at rest.

Will keep an eye on it, I guess its nothing to worry about.

Maybe I should just hide the Vec's keys from the wife and make her take her wee puddle jumper Punto to work.
