Will this harm the air flow meter?
Will this harm the air flow meter?
In a word, NO.
Thanks Caterman i will get the light out now and do the mod
Cannot understand why Vauxhall restricted the airflow into the air box below the filter. Saying that the mod doesn't seem to have made any difference...........
Steve
Someone said they did it to reduce noise.
What you need to do is, get a second filter and some GRP and really go mad... Not that I am mad...
Iv'e just done this....
Definately feels more liveley, it seems to have brought the grunt down to about 1500 rpm. Seems worth it, I don't like the way it bogged below 2K, and Tommi Makkinen style launches when nipping out at junctions are a pain...
i cnnot believe how much clag was in the airbox!
yep, they certainly hoover up some crug.. i had 3 cigarette butts in mine, and C's old 2.2 has a birds nest....
the best free mod you can get on the vectra's....
Just a quick idea lads, the air box intake is a huge gaping hole just above the radiator as far as I can make out. I know the last thing you want to do is restrict airflow at all, but on my old Opel GSI I used to fit a small bit of netting from a mosquito net - a pair of tights cut up might also work but not as tough - over the front of the intake with a simple cable strap.
It blocked all the big crud and was easy to get to to give a little brush off whenever you had the bonnet open. I certainly didn't notice any drop off in performance, but my air box was always comparatively clean when I did get around to changing the filter, nothing large lying around. Big stuff in the airbox must restrict the airflow to some extent.
Just an idea, haven't done it on my motor yet, but I may soon.
