Default MoreThan - No Claims Bonus Certificate Question

Right, I have a question about my car insurance certificate.

I had been with MoreThan for a year, and had never had a crash.
So I'd earnt 1 years No Claims Bonus. I phoned them once, to let them know a car wash scratched my car. Information Only.
The customer service guy made a mistake on the system, and left it open as though i was going to make a claim, so my renewal quote went up by over £1000, so I switched companies. Now I've been trying to get my no claims certificate from them to send on to my new insurer.
It's taken a month and half, but now I've received it, it says I've been with them for 2 years, and have 45% Bonus.
    Is this right?
Is anyone else with MoreThan, or had MoreThan car insurance and can tell me what a bonus certificate looks like. I don't want to send it off to new insurer if it's wrong.

    Thanks
    Dan

    I don't understand it.
I don't mind the 2 years part, but whats the 45% bonus mean? That doesn't sound like 1 years no claims... That should like either 45% of a year, or 45% of 2 years...?

Is it right? because if it's not, I'm going to write them another letter, to get this sorted. My new insurance company keep asking me for the certificate.

I was with MoreThan for a couple of years and they managed to send me NCB certs for 4, 5 and 9 years (I had 11). Totally useless...

    Hi,

If you were with someone BEFORE More Than, then the 2 years / 45% No Claims Bonus could be including any NCB you had earned prior to them.

If you had NOT been with anyone else prior to More Than (i.e they were your first insurers) either they have made a mistake (To which as previously mentioned I would just send it in and leave it to your new insurers to sort out, which would probably result in your new, amended policy being issued with 2 years NCB) OR, when you had the policy from them last year they gave you an 'introductory' or 'starter' discount equivalent to a 1 year No Claims Bonus, and have issued the certificate to you now as it is as they would have allowed the equivalent of a 2 year / 45% No Claims Discount on your renewal (if they hadn't lost your business through the clerical error that was made).

Don't worry about it - just send it in and hopefully your annual premium for the policy will be less than you thought.

If you are worried that, in the event of a claim, the new insurers could claim that you 'lied' or 'misinformed' them, then this would be nigh on impossible for them (or their regulators) to uphold as, when you applied for the policy you did so on the basis of 1 years NCB so you did not 'lie' or 'misinform' them. It would be their fault that they did not query how the new policy is issued on 2 years NCB when you applied for it with 1 years NCB.

more than have mucked me around in the past. all due to one dept not knowing what the other was doing, basically, a no claims cert from a previous insurer, was accepted but not input to their files, meaning they cancelled my insurance policy without informing me. i only noticed when checking my bank statements. they allowed me to drive around uninsured for more than 2 months because it "was not policy" to inform me.
they really are like a bunch of cowboys
