    Default Why the difference in power 120-150bhp

    sorry about the random title. Im new to the site so please dont flame me for asking. I just bought a 1.9 cdti sri (120) now in the dealership the salesman told me there was 2 1.9 engines with different bhp? now I assume they are both running the same 1.9 block? how come ones got 120 and the others got 150?? sorry i know this question must have been asked millions of times before but i wasnt sure were to start in the search string?

    thanks

    As far as I know, the 120 is an 8v, and the 150 is a 16v. I'm sure there will be other differences and somebody will be along to point them out, but it's a start for now.

    Vehicle : Jaguar XF 3.0D V6

    Trim : Black

    Engine : 3.0D V6

    Year : 0000

    Both hardware (as above to begin with) and software, as in calibration.

    Same displacement of engine though. It is very common to have different power ratings from the same basic block

    dont worry about it rob, thats what this site is all about, and you never learn if you dony ask, do ya!

    as above its to do with software and hardware one being an 8v and the other a 16v. i wonder if the VX salesman would have known that?

    mines is a 120 and has a 6 speed box the difference between them is
    120 = 8v 150 16v plus a wee bit of software differences

    its very easy though to get your 120 up to around 155 though, just check the diesel tuning section

    in addition to above, The common rail is in a different location, the top cover is different and the filling cap is in a different location. They are the visual clues. There are plenty of threads here to discussing the differences.

    Mine was a 120 with a 6 speed...now it's somewhere round 170-180
