Default is a vectra c very sluggish ?

hiya folks, me again still deciding to which car to get and engine wise , lol got some more questions to ask

Right i understand the vectra c is a bit heavier than the astra h and i was wondering if you compare the 1.9 cdti 150 ps in each car, does the extra weight of the vectra make it more notice able when it is in a head to head clash in all aspects ?

Also does the back seats in the vectra c fold completely flat like they do in the signum?

    cheers

my 1.9 cdti estate is as fast, if not quicker than my old 2.2 sri hatch - and with a tuning box i believe you can get 185bhp and sort out the turbo lag.. - so yeah a vect is heavier than an astra so its gonna be a bit slower - but it still shifts!

dont think the seats folded completely flat in the hatch iirc

With the extra weight of the Vectra it's obviously not going to be as quick as the lighter Astra - as for the actual difference I don't know the Astra's specs. The 1.9 Vectra certainly wouldn't be sluggish.

Ref seats - no, they don't fold completely flat like in the Signum.

My 1.9 hatch is very potent, it's tuned up to about 185bhp.

The Astra is obviously quicker as D says, about .5 sec faster 0 to 60 I think.

The vec certainly doesn't hang about & tuned it's surprisingly vicious with the power delivery.

    Hi m8,

I drive a Vec 150 at home, and an astra 150 at work, so I feel I can give a fair answer.

In my opinion, the astra feels much quicker off the mark than the vec - not necessarily faster per se, but seems to be built without the very noticeable turbo lag that the vec is blessed with! Once you get up through the gears, I really don't think there's any noticeable difference in performance though.

I have no idea what the official figures are for 0-60 etc, but I would say there's got to be less than half a second in it.

    Hi ,
thanks for the info chaps, the reason i asked is that if i did buy a 1.9cdti 150 i do not want to regret buying one due to the weight of the vectra, so if there is plenty of grunt in the 1.9 cdti 150 to shift the vectra that thats good to hear, just dont want me saying to my self i wished i got the 3.0 cdti or a 2.0 T thats all
    thanks again

If you buy it and want more power, a lot of the guys one here with 150's have fitted a box which gives them 180-185bhp - v cheap to do, see Nick's post further up.

With regards to a head to head between the Astra and Vectra - I had a drag at Santa Pod with Barney. He had a Sporthatch 1.9 with a tuning box, and I was in my SRi 1.9 with a tuning box. Obviously he won, but I was still level with his rear wheel. Judge for yourself dude!

Duncan is right the rear seats do not fold completely flat, but they do fold flat enough.
