    Default stalling on slow down

    Hi,

I apologise in advance for asking a question about a non vec c........... (at the moment touch wood my cdti is doing fine )

however my run around..... an astra 1.6 8v active has developed a bit of a prob I wondered if anyone had experienced or could give thoughts on.

Its 3 yrs old and done 50k.

Driving home last night on the approach top a round about, I dropped the clutch in to slow down and the car stalled. It took a while to restart it again.

Then about four/five times on the way home if i pushed the clutch in the revs would fall, and fall, and fall then stall.

it did this several times on the way home, intermittantly.

It seemed ok this morn for 60+ miles but as i got near work it did it a further 3 times

    any ideas

not sure bout the 1.6 engine m8 but had this problem on a couple of vec b's in the past dip clutch engine would stall but it did start straight away. It was the idle valve. Just took it out & cleaned it out with carb cleaner. That done the trick on both of them. I'm sure i will be correted if i'm wrong, just a thought m8

    Default

100% Idle Control Valve cleaning needed. Exactly the same symtoms on the Snot Rocket. Remove the air intake pipe from the throttle inlet, take the ICV off and give it a good clean with carb spray and an old toothbrush. While you're at it, clean the throttle butterfly and crank case breather.
