International Women's Day - 8th March

In case any of you didn't know, today is International Women's Day!

It's described in Wikipedia as "similar to Western Mother's Day and St Valentine's Day mixed together."

It's a great opportunity to spoil your ladies; especially if you forgot Valentines!

The day is particularly popular in Russia, so my Russian Wife will be expecting some pampering. That's alright though, because you get what you receive and 23rd Feb was the equivalent Mens' Day!

My wife, mentioned this the other day, they seem to pay more attention to it on the continent than over here.

Well, 23rd Feb is actually Defender of the Fatherland Day and is very specific to Russia. However, it's a holiday that I don't mind the Wife observing even away from Russian soil!

I of course completely forgot and got into trouble with my Russian wife! :-(

When we lived out in Russia it was a huge day and everyone in the office was expected to buy flowers for all of the women in the company.
