So would I, that’s why I replaced the front ones with genuine so they lasted a long time.

Unlike you I like to push parts like that to absolute failure... don't forget it gets what it needs but I do it on a shoestring budget. As unlike your vxr estate mine is worth less than a set of new tires according to the insurers. If someone scratches my door and I report it the car will be an economical write off.

To be fair and without checking my diary the doors were clunking something rotten for years before I sorted my life out and changed them. It was embarrassing and learning from past experience when I rotated the strap on my first Vectra I just replaced them with new as the rotation fix didn’t last long on my other car.

mine haven't made that noise for quite sometime, but that possibly iis because i lubed them up with a clear silicone lube... as i did expect them to start clunking again but they have behaved themselves so no nasty clicking that is embarrassing.. although my car looks it's age so people will expect it anyway... it's one of the reasons why i didn't refurb the wheels but left them the way they were... just sanded the big scratches out and didnt even repaint them... it kinda suits the overall look... old but good enough to still be on the road unlike yours that looks like it just came out the factory

are they? not according to my last check... they are for the heavy as hell VXR and VXR estate not for the lower powered engines... As i myself am either going to re-powder coat the rear springs as they aren't broken, just lost all the coating or am going to replace them with a better brand that doesn't suffer from the powder coat cracking within a few years...
stupid part is, the fronts are equally as old as the rears, yet the rears look like they are from the stone age and are all crusty, whereas the fronts are rust free and still nicely covered in the oem coating.

Yes, and the VXR isn’t the heaviest Vectra/signum anyway.

It could be from the different exposure and amounts of water/snow containing chemicals used on winter...

Yeah the rears hold way more dirt than the front i was actually going to take them off and have them powder coated again than when that is done cover them in a few layers of clear coat just to make sure they are more protected.

Yea it's embarrassing. I've seen some on eBay for £9 each but I bought boot lifts and a 'Bosch' wiper blade off eBay, both are crap so I don't trust the parts off there. I prefer to buy parts from my location car parts store.
