Yeah the rears hold way more dirt than the front i was actually going to take them off and have them powder coated again than when that is done cover them in a few layers of clear coat just to make sure they are more protected.

How would you know if they are structurally sound?

Because simply not broken, one looks at the spring and than checks the other one.. same length and height... also helps to know how long they should be as I put them on myself.and if you are talking about about to crack well that would show itself when I remove them as unlike most I heat them up with a torch before attacking the rust.
