    Question CDTi Air-Box Modification

    Hi All,

    just thought I would ask:

I have seen members talking about de - restricting Air Boxes on their cars. Something about a tube in the Box... and snapping the edge of it off or something??

I took my Filter out today to look for said tube - all I found was like a Rubber breather pipe in the lower section and a Trumpet feeding air into the Box.

Am I wrong? Can you mod the box or not?

    Matt

    Thumbs up

    Thanks Pricey,

Thought it was that! Got it unclipped at the top and it seemed a little reluctant to come out at the bottom - thought I would check B4 forcing it...

Does this make much if any difference?

Mine was a bit tough to get off aswell, and ended up snapping one of the little lugs off.

The difference is noticable. Sort of cures the flat spot below 1800rpm and gives you a bit more mid range pull.

Cutting some of the top trumpet out will also make a big difference but may cause the air to become turbulent at high revs, giving false MAS readings and ECU warning lights (doesn't put the car in to limp mode, just makes it moan.
