    Default Air con in glovebox

As I currently have the glovebox out to fit a CARKIT for phone. I was wondering if anyone has got details of what is required to get air-con into the glovebox to keep things cool. I know the summer has passed, yet it seems worthwhile to do.

Anyone got a diagram of how it is done? I do have a small hole in the side of the glovebox, and was wondering if I could just connect a pipe into this from the air flow pipes???

    Cheers

in my old cav V6 thats all it was, a pipe that branched off from the airflow pipes from teh dash. The hole in the glovebox had a slidy cover so you could close it off if needs be.

    STE,

My GSi's already piped for the chilled glove box. It came ready as standard. I just thought it was a feature of the split climate....

Have you got climate or A/C??

Will take my glovebox out to look if you want.

    I got standard A/C.

Just wondering what the vent inside of Glovebox looks like and where the pipes connects on in the main air pipes.

Is that not what the hole in the RHS of the glove box is for? I figured it would be all plumbed in already.

I have been looking in to this one. I have got the parts I thought I needed at a cost of £10. Dropped the glovebox out and found that the wheel assembly doesn't quite fit snuggly to the pre-cut hole in the glovebox.

Then I couldn't find where the other end of the ducting fitted on the air-con. I would appreciate it if some one with cooled glove box could take a few snaps for me to try and work it out.

I think there could be another part to secure the wheel to the glovebox. Below are the bits I have got:-

Any help with pics very much appreciated lads.

    Paul.

What sort of pics you after Paul? I've got the cooled glovebox, just not sure exactly what pics you're after - and hopefully it won't entail taking apart the whole thing! lol

Could do with how the wheel mounts to the glove box, and where the other end of the pipe goes in to the air con.

There was a thread on vxronline about this, it said you have to cut a hole with a stanley knife where it goes into the aircon bit I think ? I had it in the astra and it was tops for keeping your drinks cool, would like to do it to the vec as well ...

I read that one Bainie but the VXR has ecc does it not? May be different connections than standard air con like mine. I have Pm'd Dave who did this on his VXR and i'm ringing him tonight to get more info. It is possible that this could only be done to ecc cars. Saying that my pre-facelift had aircon with glovebox cooling.

    Keep you posted.

    Paul.
