    Assuming it's still running sweetly!

But yeah, no reason why those diesels (or any petrol for that matter) can't rack up that sort of mileage if well maintained.

It's only a few months older than mine and I thought I was doing well at nearly 144k!

I always thought diesels lasted longer than petrols as they burn an oil rather than a solvent type of fuel. Also the 6 pots have less stress then the 4 pots I would have thought
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

I have just come out of Saab 9-5 ownership, albeit a 9-5 2.0 LPT, but the 9-5 3.0 tiD has a TERRIBLE reputation amongst a lot of Saab OC members because of cylinder liners dropping - they're made of different material than the block, so after a bit of heating & contracting, they work their way loose & drop. Not really a maintenance issue, just a massive design flaw. No similar issues in the Vectra application of this engine I assume?

By the way, such instances of the cylinder liners dropping occured anywhere between 25k miles & 80k miles.

For this reason, most Saabers won't touch the 3.0!

The liners didn't drop because they were made from a different material to the block, which is a very common configuration. They dropped because were made from a different material to the block AND because there was a design flaw in the way they were fixed in (not).

I'm sure the engine will do a good high mileage but I bet it's on about it's fourth set of rear shocks, 2nd gear box, at least one change of the wiper linkage and flywheel.. I daren't go on ! LOL

speaking to our saab techies the 3.0 diesel runs hot in the saab application but doesnt have the same problem in the vauxhall,we very rarley see any vauxhall 3,0 diesels apart from servicing so they seem to be reliable

IIRC the 3.0 V6 goes wrong in the 9-5 because of the smaller engine bay causing passive cooling issues with airflow etc.

Believe it or not, the Vectra-C has a bigger engine bay. Probably down to the fact that the 9-5 is a cross between the old Saab 9000 and the Vectra-B.
