    Default Windscreens.....

Firstly how do I know if its the original one? Its got the tinted top, Also whats the chances of the seal going and letting water through into the car? My VIN number bit is all steamed up! (as well as the other water related issues I have )
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

if it's a VX one it will say so on the glass's part 'label' in the front screen..or it'll name the manufacturer...

there's a chance the seal is gone..but have you tried a hose pipe over the front of the car in a directed small area at a time..see where the water is coming in from..

Look in the bottom corner on the passenger side. You'll see a GM stamp if it's original/genuine replacement.

If it's a GM screen, and with it having the sun strip, it's likely to be the original screen as Vx stopped making their Vec C / Signum screens with sunstrips around 2005.

As for the seal, they don't tend to go after time - usually any leak would be due to a replacement not being fitted properly, but I guess they could perish over time.

Yep tried the hose pipe and being 6'6 Its hard for me to see anything at all. I have removed loads of trim and still can't find where its getting in from. All the drains and grommets near the pollen filter seem ok. I couldn't see a VX stamp but it does look OE to me, it has the same wording as the side windows about the tinting etc.
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

It should definitely have a GM stamp if it's a genuine or OEM screen.

Hmmm maybe its not the OE one but a replacement...... I have no way of finding out really..... That could explain the water ingress then as I have checked everywhere else
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

You could always, ahem, 'accidentally' have something hit your screen rather hard and then just pay £50/60 windscreen excess for a new one!

I hadn't thought of that...... honest.......

The garage I bought the car from some 120 miles away have said they will look at where the water is coming in from as my local dealer basically told me this moring they no longer wanted by business as my car is costing them money
I just don't want a big bill. They said VX have agreed to help with the costs but its out of warrenty and NetQ don't cover water ingress. I cannot think of anywhere else it comes in from
Now I need a turbo to keep up!

doesnt matter what glass it is as ALL of them have their own branding on them, you got pilkington, safe vue,racautowindscreens/autoglass, lam..something etc, the vx one will have GM on it if its a genuine screen. to re-itterate all glass made has the name of maker on it, im pretty sure its law as its safety element, and also it could leak from dealer fit... as I have seen on mercs, volvo etc some put a line of tape around the aperture and then peel it off after it has been sprayed, its so their glue sticks easier.... But some of the idiots dont peel it all off.
