Default Advice on 1 year warranty

I recently bought my wife an '06 Vectra in November last year.
At the time there was 6,000+ miles on the clock.
The car has now got 8,000+ miles on the clock.
The problem she has is that there seems to be a problem with the clutch. It doesn;t seem to "bite" properly and shudders when on clutch control.
We phoned the garage where we bought the car (Arnold Clark) who told us that it was nothing to do with them and that we should contact our nearest vauxhall dealer.

I did this and was told that the warranty only covered the clutch for 12 months (the car is under 12 months old) or 3,000 miles at the Repairers "discretion".

Is there any way I can get this problem fixed without having to pay for it?

    Many thanks in advance.

Eh?!! Nothing to do with them? That'll be Arnold Clark for you.

I take it from what you say it hasn't come from a Vx dealer and so hasn't got a Network Q warranty? If it did have Net Q warranty clutch is fully covered.

I think the Vx dealer is talking rubbish as well with the bit about the 3,000 miles. Clutch should definitely be covered for the amount of mileage that is on the car.

I have had the same when I bought my first vec from strachans in Ayr, the second I drove it out of the showroom they washed there hands of it and told me to go to a local vx garage, and to be fair if they aren`t a vx dealer then they can`t do anything about it, but there are ways of explaining it politely !!

The car only seems to be covered under the Vauxhall warranty.
Which states that "at the repairers discretion" 3,000 miles or 12 months.

Can't believe that a clutch can go in under a year on a new car with so little mileage, hasn't been driven badly (honest) and it's NOT covered under the warranty?

    Not a happy man...

Phoned Customer care who gave me a reference number to give to my local Network Q repairer on thursday so they can contact Vauxhall and make a decision on my clutch.
    Keep you posted...

Ok, car went in to get the clutch checked.
After 4 hours, 3 test drives later the repairer said there was no problem with the clutch and that my wife just needed to give it "Extra revs" to stop the shuddering.

Went on holiday to the "In Laws" for a week and got my brother in law (car mechanic) to check it for her.
He drove it 25 metres, reversed and said the problem was not with the clutch but with the accelerator. He said that there was no "voom" on the car when pulling away as if the engine was mis firing, that the fuel mix wasn't right, maybe a fuel sensor had gone.
he added that the Vauxhall repairer should have picked this up immediately when it was on the machine for testing? They told me it was on the machine so....

Phoning Vauxhall Customer care again today to ask them why their repairer never picked up on this.
    Not a happy man.
Good thing is though that this is covered under warranty...
