    Default bump stops.....

....after my ongoing problem with my new g-max springs (making a boinging noise when truning the wheel at low speeds) - i am going to try and grease up the bottom part of where the spring sits later.

someone else suggested it may be the "bump stops" - i have no odea what this means but he said you can try to shorten them? can anyone enlighten me and let me know if this may be whats casuing the noise??

    thank u

I thought bumps stops are surposed to stop the car from bottoming out ie if it has 20 people inside the bump stops will work and stop the shock and spring going all the way down(travel).
As for creaking, i think there is a upgrade kit that sits on the top mounts because i have the same noise and its always done it , GSI3.2 knows all about it.

If the spring is going 'boing' when lock is applied it normally means the spring is being wound up then releasing, try watching the spring as some else parks the car (don't get run over please!).I've never seen a vec spring off,but not taking the pee,are they fitted the right way?.

yep, there iis only 1 way up to fit them, as they have a flat top land to sit under the top bearing..and a obvious tail to sit in the spring pan...

the bump stops are located on the main damper shaft..if they are bottoming out it means the springs are too weak, and you need higher rated ones..

It does sound like the end of the spring is catching on something as you're turning the steering then releasing. Could the pan they sit on have an 'edge' they catch on? Does it only happen when you turn the steering one way? Sounds a bit wierd to me.
