    Default Tyre Nightmare?

Got a puncture yesterday on the front, so i now need 2 tyre sooner than i thought becuase they where low anyway, so the question is?

do i keep with the bridgestone turanzas or change to Goodyear NCT5's?

Need a long life tyre with good grip all round. to be fair i found the turanzas OK but im sure there is better out there?

    TIA
    Jon

wherever you go avoid National Tyre and Exhaust....... got a puncture in the wall of the tire 2 days after buying my car, and it cost 160 quid ish..... probably got shafted but if your stranded at work without a car to get home in you aint got much choice.......

I wouldnt Really Reccomend NCT5 Goodyears, I've experienced an awful lot of understeer with them. I dont know about anyone else though.

Go for a pair of 225's, much cheaper, more choice and recommended by VX.

Using Eagle F1's on mine, so far lasted about 15000 miles and no signs of wearing out!

i wouldnt recommend nct5's either. IMO i've found one of the best tyres i have used is the pirrelli p-zero rosso, there was so much grip on them it was unbelievable, only downside is they wear quite quick

Well you know what I'm going to say eh..........Yokohama ...........well I work for Michelin but my son has got a second set of wheels so we've been looking around for another set of tyres something dif and come up with these for example: -

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/15-Tire-195-50...em300085200183

They look a nice tyre and they get good reviews and they're reasonably priced.

Or there are these ones although the Parada's get my vote: -

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/215-45-17-YOKO...em130085691793

So there you go something other than the usual eh

I was so impressed with the OE Turanzas that I put 2 on the front when they wore out at 25k miles. I even got the OE Vauxhall specific ones which are H rated rather than the ordinary V rated ones. I have an SXI Estate with the SRI spec sports suspension. Couldn't fault the tyres at all. First time in 33 years that I've done that. Highly recommended..........

It is illegal to repair a tyre if the puncture outside certain limits, and the tyre wall is definitely a non-repairable puncture
I do have to agree National Tyres used to be competitive on prices, but no more

Consider taking out tyre insurance, search this forum for my recommendations
They pay a percentage of the remaining tread, and most pay out within 14 days

I have fully tested Good Year NCT5 on my Vectra, in all conditions
I do agree that in the wet their performance is very questionable, but that is to be expected from a hard compound tyre
Their life expectancy is also very poor, at under 30K miles per tyre
The eqivalent Michelin (also the same price) lasts to about 40K miles per tyre, but it too is also a hard compound and with almost an identical tread pattern!
