    Default Dash Camera Wiring?

    How have you done yours?

My Mini 0801 dash Camera arrived this morning.

It's come with the USB to Mini USB cable and a "Cig Lighter" to Mini USB cable.

I want to Hard Wire it into the car and have a permanent cable up the A-Pillar into the roof lining (i.e. NOT use the aux socket).
My first thoughts were to replace the Cig Lighter casing to a box and run a fused Ign feed to the PCB. Should be easy enough with a “project box” from Maplins. etc

How have you wired your Dash Cams up? Is there naything "off the shelf".

Cut into the cig lighter wiring as it is a switched live, wire in a secondary cig lighter socket that you can hide under the dash, run your wire from that, up the dash, behind the glovebox, up the A-pillar and across the roof, plug in at both ends. Done.

I wired mine to the live feed in the courtesy light and run the cable out of the front of the headlining at the windscreen.

No - The camera setup i have is 12V, so no need for any voltage convertors, but if you need one then that will work. So long as you arn't going to be pulling > 1 amp from the wiring you'll be fine. I also replaced my courtesy lights with LEDs to reduce the load. I have a bullet camera with RF transmitter wired to it in the front courtesy light feed and a camera in the rear with 2 separate DVRs recording all the time in the car.

If you have a look there's a few pictures of my setup on here somewhere.

I take it you're running a permanent live then as I have no Ign feed in my roof light.
