Default central locking /"door open" Help!

Hello guys need some electrical help here.
Since i bought the car (52 plate dti) the NSR passenger door central locking didnt work, got round to taking the door card off and found the multiplug disconnected, so i reconnected it and it works fine,
however now my NSR door shows open on the dash when engine is running and keeps the interior lights on when switched off.

any ideas as to how i can bypass the door open indication without unplugging the central locking for that door.

    cheers ian

It may just be the striker plate (on the door frame) needs adjusted in our out. Sounds like the contact for the door open warning isn't quite being made. Slacken the striker plate (Torx 45 I think) and start with it set to the middle position - you'll see the little marks - and try it. If it still does it try it further in and out until it doesn't come on any more.

Nice one Duncan.. I never knew that it could be the striker plate.

ive just been out and had a quick look could see the 3 marks on the plate ok so i think i know what im doing, but was just thinking that the red door marker seems to go out when i shut the door, if it wasnt making properly i would have thought that it would stay on as well as the interior lights etc? when the door is closed.

Thought you said the door open light and interior light were staying on? You mean they go off normally when you close the door but come on again when you start the engine?

    sorry getting confused

the interior lights and the dash door open indicator are on when the door is closed and engine running

the interior lights stay on all the time (i manually switched them off)

but the the red light built into the door appears to go out when the door is closed. its really tight looking past the door seal toward the light but i could be wrong.

    Excellent - glad you're sorted.

Obviously the dealer/person who had the car before you was just sloppy/lazy and rather than see what the problem was, they just disconnected the door module!!
