Default Dealers .... Why do I Bother

Just dropped my car for 1st ECO-Flex service today: (Why do I bother with Vx dealer services )

I asked the dealer to confirm long life oil and also confirm that all filters other than air filter will be replaced as per Schedule.

We will service it to the mileage (14,500 miles) he said.. I said that I thought ECO-Flex 1st service was either 30,000 miles, 2 years or when the indicator showed up ..... We'll service it according to the miles......

So I stated I would like full Eco-Flex Service #1 as schedule N...

My car is just over 1 year old, I waited until the 1st service to mention about the gear box being a bit notchy, rough changing ... Dealer said it would cost a £70.00 investigation fee + fee to adjust. I said that I was goign to ring Vx customer service.

I aked the dealer was he aware of any field remedys relating to gear boxes or shafts ... he said No (either without thought or because he knows all FR's be heart)

    Warrington ....

Can you not try a different dealer?

Adamant ... I will have to use another dealer, my blood pressure is too high.

I was going to go to another dealer ... but decided to give my local one a fourth chance ... they do give me a free courtesy car though whilst mine is in for service.

I thought the response would be " we'll have a look while we have the car for 8 hours to do the servce, and possibly adjust for you"

I think they are a bit ar**y because the car was not purchased at their dealership.

My solace is that I also have a Volvo purchased from opposite the Vx dealership ... Customer Service, politeness, techncial interest and courtesy is out of this world .... I did pay £300 for an oil change but enjoyed the leather sofas and coffee

Im guessing your covered iunder netq so you wont pay a single thing for them investigating or fixing any problems you may raise. Tell him to sort it out or you will be ringing Simon Colley, Network Q customer services manager at vauxhall head office.01582 427200

Re the service… if you want the eco flex servicing report the service light as a fault for them to reset and bring it back at 30K or 2 years. If you leave it with them as it is, they will, quite rightly just carry out a 1 year service, which is the eco-service. Don’t rely on the service light, some have been known to flash on at 7k miles.

My car (a 2.2 Sri direct) also has a notchy gearbox. Others I've spoke with have the same. It's not all the time, but enougth to be annoying. Seems to be a characteristic. (I hope)

My gear box can be a little notchy at times (1.8). It's right when you're wanting it not to be as well!

My 'box was I bit stiff when I first had it. I sent it back to Vx garage and they said the gearbox oil was low. Anyway they topped it up and it did feel better after that.

There are soooo many crude jokes that could follow on from that - but I'll restrain myself!!

On a serious note, I'm assuming it was the 5 speed box given the engine you've got? My six speed is a bit notch, even after they adjusted the linkage it a bit, and I wonder if that may be the next thing to look at i.e. topping it up.

Well the Saga Continues ... Please don't all laugh at once

Got a call, my car is ready from service:

    £150.00
    Eco-Flex service done
    No service book in car
Size 12 oil foot print on my drivers side carpet
    Full list of checks complete
AA Roadsdie for years 2 and 3
    No screen wash in reservoir
    Eco flex miles remaining 15,000

    Popped back into Reception ......

Service controller came out .. took my keys and got the technician back from lunch

    Filled screenwash
    Checked Oil Level
    Confirmed Long Life oil used
    Cleaned mat
    Service Book Stamped

Couldn't reset the service indicator on Tech 2 to 30,000 miles .. he needs the Car Pass .... guess what, I haven't got it.

I asked him to consider getting hold of a duplicate car pass at no cost to me and resetting Eco Flex for 30,000 miles .. will speak to manager and get back to me

The Service controller was okay . ... he said that my car had been set up as a DPF car hence the 15,000 mile service on Eco Flex but he did need some security codes before Tech 2 would allow him to reset. He showed me the oil used GM-LL-A-025 - I thought it should be B, but he confirmed A was okay now.

Therefore my car got a service after 14,500 miles with 15,500 miles remaining on Eco-Flex ... at least I know my engine is okay and should feel a bit better now.

Can anyone Advise and Help further please?
