    Default Wobbly driver's door mirror

    Just a quick one,

The whole mirror and housing on the driver's side wobbles when driving along. The car isn't due for a service for a couple of months and I wondered if anyone had seen this before. It is irritating but am also worried that it will work loose and fall off.

How do I get the housing off to tighten it up (assuming that's the problem). Passenger side is fine nand the mirror housing folds back Ok as well, but there is quite a bit of play if you grab the mirror unit and try....

    Thanks in advance

    hi g.o'rilla
there is not much to tighten behind the housing, the mirror is just held in place by 3 trox screws, which are located behind the blanking bit of plastic on the inside of the door.I done a "how to" on replacing the mirror the pictures should show you were to find the screws, hope this helps.

Just had a look. The wobbly bit is where it folds back, not where it is attached to the door. Since I have paws instead of hands, can anyone advise on the best way to get the coloured housing off without leaving gouge marks everywhere??

    Thanks in advance

If you mean the bit on the back of the mirror housing, as opposed to the bit that joins the mirror to the door, you need to pop out your glass and unclip the cover from the inside. If you try and do it from the outside you'll break all the lugs.

Get a plastic spatual type thing and slip it in behind the glass as you can and pop it out. Don't just use a screwdriver or something on the edge of the glass or it'll just break.

Thanks - just what I was looking for. So it's mirror glass levered carefully off with a nylon kitchen implement (when the wife's not looking) and then I can unclip the body coloured cover from the inside.

might even stop the thing wobbling (the mirror, that is)

    Cheers -
