    Default Stiff gear changes

    Guys

    When the car is cold the gear change from 1st to 2nd is very stiff and when warmed up is notchy from 2nd to 3rd and sometime 3rd to 4th. I have read the following thread and was wondering if the F23 transmission was what I had on my 04 3.0V6 CDTi 6-speed box http://forum.vectra-c.com/showthread...t=Field+Remedy Do any of you guys with a V6 have the same problems?? My warranty is up on the 10th March and I want to get looked at before then if I need to. Any info or comments would be greatly received.

    Should be the F40 gearbox.

    The same as in the 2.0T and some Saabs and Fiat & Alfa ....

    My warranty is up on the 10th March and I want to get looked at before then
    I have read an interesting article about approaching the end of your warranty. It recommends having your car checked over by one of these AA/RAC type engineers as you would if you were buying the car. You then go to the stealers with the engineers report and get them to repair what is wrong b4 the warranty expires. The article says that in 90% of cases the engineers examination will more than pay for itself. Worth thinkng about.

    James, my v6 diesel is the same, sometimes i worry about it as it needs very careful driving until the juices get flowing, often get a little crunching too when i go from first to second when its cold unless i let the revs drops right down to idle when changing up.

    might have mine checked out aswell.

    As Techwolf said, it's the F40 in the 3.0V6 but not exactly the same one as in the 2.0T. The 2.0T is the close ration version.

    A number of people of people have had problems with stiff changes with this box and, if I recall, Ian C had his gearbox changed eventually (he has the same engine).

    Do a bit of a search/browse and you should find more details.

    I'd say it's definitely a trip to the dealer to give them some pressure to sort it out before the warranty runs out.

    Angry stiff gear bo

    I have 2.2 sri petrol, same problem stiff changing between first & second. It seems to knock aswell.!! Took it back to dealer they said that its acceptable for age of car (Reg. Jan 04) but they lubricated the linkage for me and said this should help.

    Do I have the same gear box? and was i fed a load of s**t!!

    Mine is just comming up to 7k, 1st & 2nd is a real dog at times, more so when cold ! i did think it was because it was new, but i think they are all the same !

    My CDTi is the same 1st to 2nd always grates - It's not stiff just very notchy particularly when its cold. 2nd - 3rd is a little notchy but more than acceptable - It's certainly not the Synchro's because it's fine coming down the box - double declutching helps!!
