Declared mine SORN until Easter
Have consideration for the deaf, if you're gunna fart, make it smell !
Well, not exactly today, but last weekend I have the front brake calipers some exercise, as they were dragging the discs too much. I actually never replaced pads or discs in the front in either years ownership, so I took some photos for the part numbers, as I'm guessing they won't last forever.
Two weeks ago, for the fun of it, I had a look beneath the bonnet and discovered a bit of coolant.
After a bit of searching I found a small hole in the hose to the expansion tank. (and why doesn't this hose have its own sparepart number!?)
Apparently the culprit was a hose clamp, fitted about seven years ago when the Webasto auxillary heater was installed. I fixed it with a piece of connecting pipe, that was surplus after fitting auxillary heater in my Yaris 15 years ago :-D
The clamps have been rotated a bit, and I've put in a piece of garden hose as extra protection.
Still running strong!![]()
I added Dipetane to the tank... i used it before and i have to say it seems to help quiet down the engine while actually helping to do more miles on the same amount of fuel, it also cleans off soot(carbon) deposits from the engine internals, turbo and complete exhaust system (plus it is cheaper than most other additives that claim to do this) it's not my first time using \Dipetane, actually this is my 5th bottle of the stuff and seriously it has helped a lot... in the past as i did notice the idle speed has come down by about 100 rpm after a day or so of driving around with it doing normal driving.
Yesterday: mounted a set of wind deflectors to the front and rear.
They have to sit 24h after installation, so no experience yet, but looks OK.

Took the battery off to go on the Focus Estate (Dont laugh it’s all I could afford) and kept a few fuses as a memento.
After thirteen years of blissful motoring with the Vectra I sent it the dismantlers today. Hopefully it will be an asset to the collective by being a donor car, Abbey gave me £369 for the complete car and will probably charge you two grand for the bits on evilbay
I know the feeling. I have sent my mom’s astra almost full trim levels to the scrapyard with a lpg installed on it aswell for 500 euros. I tried to part it out, listed parts way under the junkyards prices and peeps wanted to lower the already lowered price tags so i kept the lpg papers that the system couldn’t be installed(legally) and who wanted a automatic gearbox aisin will have to pay 400 euros for it. Peeps are stupid and they sure deserve the evilnay increased prices.
If you are prepared to let it go to the scrappy you might aswell have sold it at that offer from the scrappy to a genuine buyer sorry but I see that as a waste... because soon the vectra's will be completely gone from the roads... people send them to the scrappy way to soon.
I dont have anywhere to sorn it or store bits so it had to go otherwise I would have bought another Vectra C and kept this one as donor, plus that was a pretty good price from the dismantlers I contacted everyone local who may have wanted the engine etc but no bites. I already miss the polarised glass and the nice little elbow rest on the drivers door.
