Discovered the rear passenger footwell is absolutely soaking wet after all the heavy rain last night. The window was up, the boot looks dry and so does the front passenger footwell. I cleared out the scuttle a few months ago anyway so I don't think it's coming through the front. I guess it'll be a weekend of stripping out the interior to get it dry and trying to find out where the sodding water's coming in.

Hiya might be worth checking the roof rack points on the roof, previous owner of my car had issues with water coming in there, was all sorted before I bought the car, plus the usual damp boot issue.

Thanks for the tip. I'll give that a look. The aerial seal has seen better days as well so I might just squirt a load of sealant around both areas and see if that sorts it. Hopefully the weather will be dry enough over the weekend to let it cure properly.

Yes could be water getting in there too perhaps.

As others have mentioned, it's common for the aerial and the roof rails to leak.

Took mine for the MOT the other month, it failed on a couple of things but one was "serious oil leak". Had a chat with the bloke who turned out to be a lovely about it, saying the NS of the engine has always had oil caked on it but it never uses any or drops anything on the floor, even when it was parked up for 2 months over last Christmas. Told him I left it on there similar to what we used to do of painting the underside with old engine oil as cheap rust preventative. He believed me and said to just clean it off before re-test.

Fast forward to May, and 150 miles from home start hearing a tap tappy noise that increases with revs, ah ******, not the chain is it? Start driving like Miss Daisy, working out when I can afford to change it. The following morning there's a ****** pool of oil under the car! Not tons but it's never ever leaked anything. ******.

100 miles again later a quick thud followed by the battery light - aux belt had snapped! Having no tools to do it roadside with me I got a local garage to replace it. He said it was caked in oil. Tappy noise has gone - the strands of about to fail belt were the culprit, but now it seems they've whipped away at summat causing this slight leak from the aux belt side of the motor. Need to wait for some better weather to have a proper look but it's not a major leak, we're talking half an egg cup full over a full 7 days of being parked up.

After nearly 4 years of owning it finally got round to borrowing a proper upholstery shampooer to clean the seats and carpets. It now no longer smells of damp dog when the sun has been on it.
