Tried a fun new game, drive the car as fast as you can safely on the back roads to work whilst all wet with ESP/TC turned off
Quite addictive holding the revs at 6k while it waits to regain grip, might try again tomorrow but with sports on so full power![]()

water pump disintegrated yesterday, pulley was barely holding on!! Coolant everywhere... New timing belt kit & water pump fitted, pain in the ass!! Timing skipped a bit but no damage engine appears to run perfectly fine, guess i got luckywas actually due timing belt change, now it was forced upon me
Removed the exhaust system on the latest hatchback to fit a brand new genuine front flexi pipe ,new pattern middle pipe, and weld up the broken dpf brackets. Dident get it refitted due problems getting the front pipe off and getting the sensor out of the dpf. Found the o/e clamp from the dpf to pipe was badly cracked as iv'e found out with the other 2 exhaust systems i've replaced .Also found that exhaust pipe was welded to the dpf due to one of the studs being broken ( not suprising) although once off the car i found the weld on the flange of the front pipe was not welded to the dpf stud remains so that was a result.

Refitted the exhaust system that i removed yesterday. Found the EEC make pipe from DPF to rear silencer was a reasonable fit over the dpf and into the o/e silencer BUT it was shorter than the o/e one by about 1"/25mm.Bends on this pipe are poor as the pipe is deformed on the bends UNLIKE the o/e one. Also waxoiled various areas and sprayed Bilt Hamber atom max around the underside while i was on my back. I reused the rear silencer as it was sound after i had welded it up in the summer and it's probably still better than a new pattern one.

Forgot to say that the thread for the ozy sensor in the DPF is 14mm x 1.5 pitch ,i've now removed 3 of these 2 came out easy enough but this time the sensor was grabbed by the boss and as there both stainless i was thinking i was going to be into a new sensor, but plenty of very thin oil and small turns of the spanner (17mm) it finaly came out but it was tight to the last thread.I did this under the car but it's alot eaier if you disconnect the connector for the sensor on the lower bulk head.
Took delivery of new rear discs and genuine pads from GPS, just need to arrange the treatment of the discs before fitting.

Yesterday bid on some vxr 18" wheels that were very local to me and lost out. Today No1 hatchback's battery packed in but it was the original 2008 varta GM one, so 160ml round trip to sort that out and as i was fitting the slave battery i found the brake fluid was very low so it looks like it's under the car tomorrow looking for a leak.Groan. O and think i've found out why the cruise control has never worked properly on the estate sri more of that in the next few days.
