I noticed a while ago I had a small coolant leak... but couldn't pin it down... I checked it today again and found it... it was the coolant return flange seal on the head that was leaking... took it off after I drained all the coolant (caught it in a clean container) and used some liquid gasket to seal it properly. Had to clean the mating surfaces first but after that it was... fill the coolant back up and no more leaking...

Had the car running until it reached operating temps but no leaks so job done... ni more coolant topping up every so many days.

so today i had to go shopping... noticed the car wasn't using the turbo at all... so got home and readout the car... found a whole load of dtc's (partly from me removing the battery yesterday because I was working on the car and forgot to close the boot... light drained the battery so when i went to start it it didn't start because not enough power... and i had the bumper still off so a **** losd of sensors were found as being open or non responsive.. anyway only one of them was red DTC p0234-5b ... checked the vacuum pipe to the turbo was holding vacuum but it didn't... there was a split in the connector.. of-course in the bottom and out of sight, so i couldn't see it put myy finger around it and hey presto it held vacuum.. pulled the rubber connector off.. replaced it and presto the car has found about 60 ponies again...

    2 options
    - replace rear carriers and calipers (with the ones for the vented rear discs, scrappy would be your cheapest option)
    - get the right size solid rear discs (you should be able to have them changed, providing you kept the box, bags etc, just clean them before you bring them back)

I am returning them, I just want my car on the road, although, there is a "lockdown", I still need my car for essentials and to help the gf out with her lil un. Its done my nut in....never mind back to the drawing board and have to wait to return them and to get a refund so I can get some solid ones

So with this lockdown I've been busy in the garage.
Headlights opened and painted inside. Wheels refurbed. Fog lights tinted and rear chrome colour coded.

I just replaced all the vacuum pipes and connectors with 3mm ID silicone vacuum hose.. I bought 5 meters only needed about half of it... but I like having spare laying about... next up will be the leak-off pipes that will get the samco silicone oil pipes... I went for black silicone vacuum hoses as i'm not into making it look like it's engine dress up, I changed it since i'm done with those ****** connectors leaking... I also took the battery off the car and put it on my trickle charger... it'll stay on it for 24 hours... I don't have battery drain but noticed it was taking the car longer to start... and it deffo is the battery that's getting weaker because the car isn't really being used nor started... ( except for the odd run to the shop and back for the essentials, i don't even turn the radio on, as it's less than a 3 mile round trip)

I would seriously cut a metal plate the size of that vauxhall logo, put double-sided 3M car tape on it and paint it in the colour of the car... i might even have put one of those laser distance red lights in it ( don't now if you've seen them but they light up with your rear foglights and leave a big red beam on the ground at 2 car lengths distance) so it would be a functional yet clean smoothed tail gate... ( I hate logo's and badges they are dirt traps)
