Got a new MOT for mine I thought she might sink on emissions, but I don't really warm the thing up (4 miles to work). Turns out that the max emissions are o.5 g per bucketfull and mine were a mere 0.21. Oh yes. So after the bonnet cable fix, I am most well chuffed!! Mind you, I did need a few suspension bits (new spring, rear bushes and drop linkage stuff). Next job is yet another clean and polish and then I can start to faff. I should never have read Dogbook's diary........
I put 4 new continental tyres on my snowflakes but also decided to up the profile from 35 to 40 , genuinely feels better as the last tyres were of the budget variety and I knew when I bought it few weeks ago they’d be first on the list to go so thought I’d try improve the comfort slightly ...feels better for sure .
Get it an after holiday clean and fitted a quick release block in the sub for easy removal.

1.9 CDTI 8v owner checking in
Had a go at removing OSF driveshaft because car decided to shred the bearing where the idle/intermediate driveshaft joins while driving on the M25 at 70mph!
That hub nut wouldn't budge, even with me standing on the wrench, so awaiting arrival of a bigger, longer wrench.
Might as well remove the whole driveshaft to check if any teeth are damaged and to see if any circlips need replacing because right now I can pull the driveshaft slightly out of the gearbox (not out past the oil seal though).
Car is off the road anyway while I try to seal the corrugated pipe from EGR cooler to exhaust manifold as we're fed up with exhaust fumes in the cabin.
Looks like replacement gaskets for both ends aren't available so I'm going to try with an inner layer of "gun gum" and then an outer layer of JB weld "extreme heat".
I'd consider blanking but not sure my heap would pass MoT.
While taking the EGR bits apart for cleaning I found the throttle body FULL of oil AGAIN. Could explain the intermittent behaviour around 2000rpm.
And there's an oil leak at the back of the engine near the oil cooler
Could be time to change car before next MoT. Would consider a diesel Insignia but heard of dire electrical problems and are those engines any better?
Previous mods:
Replaced SMD LEDs with blue ones.
Retrofitted DAB with CDC40 Opera and GID
Cruise control
Front HIDs
LED sidelights (but they flash when car is turned off)
relay to light NSR fog lamp
Still to do:
front fogs
maybe run coax from aerial to in-car 4G dongle for better signal
maybe fit massive capacitor to power DAB/EHU so they don't lose stations when starting car
Got key cut as one what came with car wouldn’t stay open.
Got one case of flea bay and the stickers and key ring £30 total.
Changed interior light console as had some scratches on it £10 from scrappy bonus.
Still waiting for them to come back about gps aerial gaskets apparently out sourced it, so I’ll have to wait and see what they say.
Still need to clean head lining and redo tracking as I took her out last night for the first time and wheel is off to right.

I'm looking to replace the DAB aerial gasket on my partner's Corsa. I've ordered a 200mm x 200mm x 10mm sheet of EPDM/Neoprene-like foam/sponge which I hope to cut into a neat shape and make a small hole for the wires.
With any luck the sheer mass of foam/sponge will easily keep out water and yet compress enough to deal with the awkward-shaped underside of the aerial base.
I've probably not even fitted the correct DAB aerial base for the Corsa anyway which doesn't help.
Anyway, it that works out then I might do the same for my Vectra and could be a cheaper solution for other people?
The sheet was only about £4 from fleabay.
Eventually got the grill done and back on
New Skirts fitted , well one side , waiting on more rivets to come! cheers NEW BOY!! 20190220_142254.jpg
