Mine just squeaks the once when you start it from hot (and only when its hot) Can't hear anything odd when the engine is actually running.

    Default Update

It would appear that the belt on mine is not covered by warranty as it is due to wear not being faulty!

However I had a moan to customer services who will now pay for the belt and work costs! Result Just got to wait for a belt to turn up.

Are they replacing the tensioner joules? - that's the bit that causes the problem. The belt (on mine) was replaced as well just because it made sense - but all under warranty.

    Think it's just the belt.

I'd press them to do the tensioner - that's the bit that causes the problem. It doesn't push on the belt enough so that causes it to squeak (and judder in my case).

If they just change the belt, and it's the tensioner that is the problem, it'll still have the squeak. They may then change the tensioner but it'll be more time wasted and hassle for you to make another trip?

You do have a point there mate - problem is it's getting to the stage where I am telling them what to do...

I have always taken my car to this garage because it has very good, efficient and friendly service. I think I am going to have to trust em on this one. I did have a look at the belt and it does look worn. I tried sprayed a tad of WD40 and it did work for a short time, so this does seem to point to the belt. If it was the tensioner WD40 would have no affect.

The belt only costs £6 quid............I wish I had more mechanical knowledge\confidence to do the job myself!!

I had the same problem vxl thought it was the alternator turned out to be the air conditioning compressor, it started as a squeek when cold then dissapeared when warm more noticable on damp days, i tried the wd40 on the belt and it stoped for 2 mins then became worse thats when a trip to vxl was needed.

Find out if they changed the tensioner as well as the belt. If the tensioner is faulty it will still make a new belt squeak.
