0W-40 at the moment, 0W-30 gives slightly better performance but I tend to get less fuel economy... Maybe because I put my foot down more, I don't know.

I put the VX oil in mine, but Larisa,s Vectra I have always put mobil 1 in, it is worth putting a good oil in, not cheap supermarket own brand.

Same as above. However, it is worth seeing what oil (API grade) is actually recommended. It is possible to ruin an engine designed for mineral oils by using synthetics - however, nowadays most new engines run on semi synthetics.

The leasing company came to pick one of our staff's 9 month old 1.9 CDTI exclusiv and when he looked under the bonnet he found no filler cap and no oil on the dipstick, 'cos most of it was sprayed around the engine bay. the same person was heard to ask what that oil can light that was permanently on was for???

Keep clear of Vec C exclusiv in panacotta beginning with ND06....

I use Shell Helix plus 10/40 in mine because the dealer used it on the last service.

Vx just use cheap stuff, 10W-40 isn't good enough for winter running.

The lower the first number the easier it flows at low temp and the higher the second number the thicker it stays when hot. A free flowing oil at low temp will protect the engine better when you start it. If it maintains its viscosity at high temp, it will also protect better under heavy load. However a thiner oil at higher temp will offer less resistance allowing better performance and theoretically more economy but I have never really seen the latter.
