    Default Service Interval

    Looking for some advice folks....

In theory, my car isn't due for another service until 156k, but I'm wondering whether it's worth doing an oil + filter change every 10k because of the mileage.

So far, it's been serviced at 22k, 46k, 62k, 81k, 99k, 119k and 136k, the last one being a major service including timing belt.

It averages out at around 20k intervals so far, so would it be worth doing it twice as often?

I do about 10 miles in stop/start or urban traffic and about 60/70 on A-roads, dual-carriageways or motorways every day.

    TIA

It's the best and cheapest insurance you can get... i'd do it..in fact I already do, as i can either be doing a lot of stop start or a 600 mile trip..i never know..

Changing every 10,000 has seen me right to 250,000 on several of my cars..i thoroughly endose this practice..

    Cheers for the advice Mark!

I'll avoid my local dealer, given the amount they quoted for a service!

if you're doing it for yourself, i'd use VX's own 10W40 oil and filter, and you'll have change out of a 20..

I daredn't do anything to this car, even something as simple as changing the oil - the last time I did that was on my old Cav 1.6

Don't encourage him if he's not confident, all it takes is the sump nut to have gotten in a bit too tight and there will be all sorts of trouble for him, take it to Kwik Fit or similar if you don't want to mess about with it yourself mate.

I thought it would be more complex than that - I may well do it meself then and save £30+ labour cost

Having read that I'm not so sure!

I'll see nearer to the time, depends how flush I am and whether anything else needs fixing at the same time
