Clicking from tailgate lights
Hi Everyone, has anyone experienced this with a Vectra C Estate?
There is a clicking noise from the drivers side tailgate light cluster (I've had it for ages), whenever the tailgate is open and I'm sitting at the rear of the car I can hear a clicking noise from the tailgate. (the clicking may be there all the time, but this is the only time I can hear it).
The noise lasts a long as the power is active following ignition off.
I've been doing some other investigation work in the tailgate recently with the trim removed - the noise is coming from the light cluster itself, if I remove the sidelight bulb, the noise stops!
It's almost like an electrical relay in the cluster itself.
Thanks in advance for any comments
Pete

Never experienced that, sounds like canbus is polling, that is normal, but not sure what can be making the sound... towing relay? Perhaps tailgate lock gets polled? Wiper motor? I know the sound seems to be coming from the cluster, but difficult to see how it can! Hopefully someone can post you a more helpful answer!

Thanks for your comments, I've always had it also - just wandered if it was a common thing?

Have you got a towbar? If so it maybe the split charge relay.

No towbar fitted.
Strange thing is, after seaching for an electrical problem over the weekend - disconnecting the rear body control unit, the LH inner light cluster now clicks!

My Vectra Elite Estate is just the same. It's always done it.

2 years later, and I've fixed this. Mine is an estate, but the problem revolves around the rear light bulb sockets corroding. I had a bulb out, or so I thought, in the tailgate, and the terminals were very corroded. Cleaned them up and did all the others while I was at it, bulb hadn't blown BTW, and hey presto, no clicking. Must be something to do with the Canbus, but glad it's fixed.

Mine clicks too. I thought it was the canbus bulb check. I already sanded the sockets all way round since the front indicator was "out".
