Tyre Pressure Sensors

Just been reading the handbook and realised that my spec of Vectra is capable of displaying a tyre pressure warning on the dash mounted display. It mentions needed special sensors fitted to the tyre valves anybody know if it is possible to retro fit these?

I did enquire once. It was starting to get a bit expensive - around £300 iirc. You needed a new valve/sensor on each tyre, then some receiver in the car and I'm sure there was another black box on top of this. It was ages ago so the exact details slip my mind. I just remember that it was, for me, not worth the cost of what it was.

Thanks, might still investigate a bit further find out the exact cost. Only reason for asking was I thought I'd check my pressure last week only to that all the tyres were at 28-30psi instead of the recommended 40psi.

Phew, 40psi is a fair gust of air .... I'm sure my 17" (215 50 R17) have 33 psi in each corner

i too have 17"s, and i have also got 33psi all round.

Back of the handbook says 40psi and upto a maximum of 51psi!! for the rear when fully loaded.

In my version of the handbook it gives tyre pressures for the saloon and the estate, although not a hatchback, so i presume th hatchback and saloon will be the same. for a car with up to 3 passengers it recomends 38 psi at the front and 35psi at the rear.

There is a difference in tyre pressure recommendations between 3.2 gsi's on 03/53 plates and 04 on. I asked the question as to why some time ago, and nobody knew!
