1.9 cdti sri whine on start, int lack of power

hi all. i have a 2004 cdti sri (1.9) vectra c estate. i have only had it 3 weeks but i am getting the distinct feeling that the turbo is on its way out. only this morning on cold start i heard a whine from around the turbo area also a slight misfre at 2500 rpm. noise went away after about 30 secs, not long nough for me to locate exact noise. also when cold there is a distinct lack of turbo boost intermittantly. i still have 10 months warranty so its vx's problem to sort. is there any common problems or known fixes for this complaint?

Not sure about the misfire, but is the whine just the normal turbo whistle or is it something else? Mine whistles quite a bit, but I normally have the stereo on too loud to hear it!

Mine is also really sluggish when cold, I think the ECU doesn't allow full power until things have warmed up a bit.

Either way, gotta be worth taking it into the dealers to check it out?

What mileage is the car on, and have any services been missed or late by previous owner?

Common prob if it is the turbo, although i would expect it to whine all the time. have a look at this thread. if its still warranty then get it booked in!!

cheers guys! yeah i would expect it to be there constantly if it was the turbo . i wasnt sure if there is any probs with sticky turbo veins. i will have the car in as soon as i get back and have it checked.
one other wee question?!?! is there a parts for sale section here? if so where?

ohh and car has 44000 with no services missed although last dealer service i think was just a oil change. i will carry out full service next week. i am looking for a front badgeless grill and small front bumper skirt to mean up gront end. any idea's on where's cheap and chearfull?

Hi,

My 2006 1.9 Signum (150) seems to have the opposite problem to yours on this thread!

When the engine is cold (or warming up) the car is really sweet and drives great. When it is normal running temperature, it feels 'lumpy' and not smooth and I dont think it has as much power.

Been back to the dealers many times with this problem and they are stumped - all they do is keep regenerating the DPF which seems to cure it for a week or 2.

Just hope that they can sort out or good next time it goes in - on 1 March.

Anyone else have similar problem? Even better if someone has had the problem and can tell me how it was cured!

either turbo or EGR valve... take it back..

........we've just had exactly the same job done under warranty..much better now.. shame it only took them a month to get the bits in..
