confused Wipers on a go slow

Just driven from home to London.

When I got here it started raining

Switched the old wipers on and they worked fine - rain stopped - rain started. This time the wipers started okay but after spraying the screen the wipers went on a go slow - couldn't see a thing as the rain was so heavy!

    Any Ideas

    Start of Rant!!!!

Well first bit of proper rain and they are playing up again!!

Have just got off the phone to my local main dealer and they say that they can look at it in a couple of days.

I said that I need the car for work and that a couple of days isn't good enough. If it needs parts that is fair enough but for them just to look at it - come on!!

They advise me that it is a common known fault - my view is that they should have parts available then.

They said that I can still drive the car - as long as it isn't raining as then it would be unsafe. I would be okay if it doesn't rain........ Hello it's raining now! then you won't be able to drive your car then Sir!!

the upshot of it is then that I have a car that is only a year old that I can't drive in the rain until they can get me in to look at it - no offer of drop it off, take this loan car and we will see you in a few days - I need my car for work - I work so I can have things like a nice car - no work - no car!!

    Rant Over!!

    Have a good one guys

i'd try and escalate it in order to get a loan car whilst yours is waiting to be looked at - speak to the manager or someone with a bit of weight they can throw around

or can you not try another vx dealership

Lol, sounds like you're having fun mate. I remember you mentioning your wipers at the NW meet.

So, they expect you to drive along and when it starts raining... just stop? Should be fun on the motorway! lol "Sorry Officer but Vauxhall told me i can't drive in the rain... it was fine when i set off but it's just started spitting so i slammed on" Can see that going down well!!

I know it's not a solution to your problem, but i've found that Rain-X is superb. Wash the car then apply some rain-x to the windows, just rubs on and off again, i usually give it two coats. On the motorway you don't need your wipers, the rain just slides off the screen, however, can become quite distracting, i often find myself watching the rain slide off the screen rather than watching the road!! lol

I have rain-x in my cleaning kit. I have used it for years. Just can't believe the VX attitude

AS far as I am concerned the car isn't fit for the purpose and they can have it until it is....... but I need to have a vehicle in it's place - after all it all covered my the warranty!

When my linkage failed and wasn't available for a good few weeks, I was put into a hired Vectra.

Hope this helps. Try a different dealer too if possible. Sounds like they don't want your business.

Dealers are great when it comes to courtesy cars. I know a builder who's van broke down, so they delivered a courtesy car.. and what arrives.. a bl**dy Nissan Micra! What use is that to a builder?? pmsl

Amazing what you can get if you stick to your guns..........

We don't have the part in stock Sir...... We will order it for you....... It will be 2 weeks Sir..........

Funny that when I start complaining about the lack of hire car etc that all of a sudden they have the parts in stock and the job is being done as we speak

1 hour and 5 mintes later the car is parked up on my drive having had new link arms and motor fitted.

Just goes to show you eh!!
