    Default radio repairs

okay here we have a dilemma, been in touch with main vauxhall head office, they said they don't repair the siemens ncdc2013 that i have to buy a new unit at a cost of £1200. the radio only needs a audio chip so i have been told.have checked all over york and leeds for somebody to fix this unit but not successful. been in touch with fixmyradio but they can't fix it either. Can somebody out there please let me know who can fix this sodding thing as i believe paying £1200 every 4 years is expensive and surely someone can fix it.

there is two in hull who do repairs,if this is not to far for you.
    1.decode (uk) 01482 448651
    2. kingston car sound 01482 473777
if this brings no joy,i would try simpson brothers, the big salvage company who are not far from you,as they sell hundreds of head units out of late cars ,this may be a cheaper option

I used to work in doing car audio repairs. It sounds it could be worth both our whiles for me to dig out my tools although I find it strange fixmyradio wouldn't touch it.
Are you sure it's the audio IC which has gone down? Have you checked to make sure you don't have a short to ground on any of your speaker wires as in some stereos this would mute the audio IC & put it in a protection mode to prevent it overheating & blowing. It's very unheard of nowdays for an audio IC to blow but at the end of the day it's an electrical component, it can go faulty whenever if it's just a bad un.
Have you also checked you have the volume turned up or the set switched on? Sorry, had to ask, believe it or not I have fixed peoples radios in the past simply by switching them on

I do have access to spare parts, don't know if you're up to stripping it down & finding out what the part number is on the IC & I could perhaps do some digging around or if you wanna send it down or even dump it in my bin if you do end up replacing it

Hi Ben, have had the unit to many people who do car radios around York and Leeds. they have put it on their benches and are getting no sound from it at all , and yes it is turned on will be giving the numbers in Hull a ring to see if they can fix it first as it would cost more in postage to you than a trip to Hull. i have been told its a audio chip if there is no sound as everything else works fine. but nobody seems to know or cannot get hold of diagrams for this unit so they wont look at it. if they cant fix it, will it be okay to get back in touch with you, will let you know tonite if thats okay?
