    Default Digital SLR's.... Any advice?

I have a good chunk of cash in my Paypal account now so tempted to get a Digital SLR. Max £500 to spend but ideally less....

Was looking at this one? Or recommend any others?

    I've got the 350D.

Cracking camera althought the 400D is a later version. One advantage is that you can use older eos lenses (i.e) from the film cameras on it.

    Takes decent pictures too.

I'd get the cannon. The 400D is a good camera. To be honest that link you've got there for the the 350D isn't any better than some shops I've seen Advertising in magazines. There are offers of a body and two lenses for less than £500 out there.

Another one to consider is the Nikon. All the mags say it's between Cannon and Nikon.

I was in currys lookng at a 400d the other day for the wife, cracking camera, the american equiv is the rebel XTi . Currys had it for 499, or £629 with a 70-300 lens added in which wasn`t a bad price . I have been watching ebay and the 350`s can go for as little as £300.00 ...Also if you go onto ebay.com and search there you can get a decent price, I bought a rebel 300v from there and didn`t get any tax on it....

I've got the 350D, would agree: fab camera. 400D has a larger display and a few more pixels. The big advantage with the Canon is the "easy peasy" modes for when you don't have much time, but you can drop to more manual control if you need to.

Try and save some money for a better lens than the standard one if possible.

The Fuji S9000 isn't an SLR, which is why you have a digital eyesight.

Canon 350/400D have a mirror (that flips up when you take a picture) and an optical eyesight. One minor downside is that you can't preview the picture on the digital display. Then again, just buy a big CF card, and delete the duffers!
